On July 1st we loaded up the car and headed north to IL for a partnership development/family visiting trip. We were literally two minutes from the house when Isaiah puked all over himself and his car seat! We promptly turned around, unloaded the kiddos, gave Isaiah a bath, cleaned out the car seat as best we could, loaded up a bunch of cleaning supplies in the car for any future throw-up episodes and headed out a second time. Isaiah threw up several more times on the way there, but we finally made it late that night.
Our first weekend there was a lot of fun (minus Sunday, when Addy got the same virus that Isaiah had). We got to spend a lot of time with my brother and sister-in-law and their kids, as well as with Grandpa Davenport and GG Pauley. Uncle Andy and Aunt Tawnya brought some fireworks and did them with the kids on Saturday night. They ate watermelon on the deck, caught lightning bugs and played kick ball in the church yard. It was a perfect evening!
We took the kids to the small town July 4th celebration on Monday and enjoyed seeing grandpa receive an award for his service to the community of P
axton. We were/are so proud of him! Later that night we took the kids to the footb
all field for the town fireworks display. I was THOROUGHLY impressed with their fireworks. The kids loved it - even Isaiah! He pointed and exclaimed his way through the 20-25 minute display.
Isaiah's favorite thing to do at grandpa's house was go up and down the stairs. Since the stairs were the kind that have just a few steps, then a landing and curve up with another few steps, we let him play on them and go up and down with the other kids. He thought this was amazing and spent much of his time playing there without, believe or not, any falling mishaps. He was sad when we got home and the gate went up to prevent him from playing on our stairs:)
Aunt Tawnya made some home-made popsicles that all the kids enjoyed. Little man thought he was pretty big getting to eat a popsicle like the big kids. It was perfect on his sore gums!We had the privilege of joining the church family the last Sunday we were there as they hosted a potluck and meet and greet to say good-bye to John and thank him for his 20+ years of service at the church. It was a sad time of transition - leaving the home Nathan spent most of his growing up years in and the town Judy is buried in - but we look forward to how the Lord will use John in the years to come and are very proud of the impact he made on the lives of those he served in Paxton.
