Addy's Sixth Birthday

I'm a little behind getting this post up, but it's better late than never! On September 23, my sweet Addy turned 6 years old. This sounds so much older to me than 5 - she's growing up so fast!! For her birthday we had a party at home this year and she invited four of her closest PBT pals. Although she wanted to do a Barbie theme initially, she picked out Strawberry Shortcake once we went to order her cake at the bakery.

As I posted previously, Addy started Kindergarten this year. Although the transition of having her at school has been tricky (at best!) it has been really fun to see her learning so much. She brings a book home from class every week to practice on her reading level at home and she is doing so good! She has made some good friends in her class and since it is a neighborhood school, she often sees kids from school at the neighborhood playground or at the grocery.

She is a very conscientious little girl, worried so much about doing the right thing and not getting in trouble at school. This has translated into some tears in her bed at night as she worries about upcoming things the next morning. Nathan and I were both this way as kids, so we can completely relate. We're working hard to teach her to turn her worries over to the Lord in prayer and allow him to help her. What a victory when she came home from school one day and said, "Mom, I wasn't even worried today at lunch because we prayed and asked God to help me!"

Here are some pics from her party (a couple of days before her birthday) and her actual birthday:

She's very proud of this new outfit as it marks her roots in Texas! She's becoming a true Texan in that she is very proud of where she's from! She was very disappointed that her Rangers didn't come out champs in the World Series.

Addy was super excited about getting the new Barbie movie, although I was personally quite disappointed in it. All the Barbie movies have been very cute, but this one was a bit old in content for her. Too bad I couldn't view it before buying!

Cinnamon rolls for her birthday breakfast - she loves these!

Addy with her cake. The girls played "pass the crown" (instead of "Hot Potato") and enjoyed macaroni and cheese for lunch (as per request of the birthday girl).

Addy with Miriam and Mikaela - PBT pals she's known since she was born. Their little sister Emily and Addy's really good friend Lauren were also there for the fun!
