Morning Devotions

Although we've done devotions with the girls daily for about 3 years now, we usually did them in the evening before bedtime. When Addy started Kindergarten in August, we decided to make them part of a our morning routine. We feel that it is especially important for Addy (and later, the other kids) to learn to "put on their armor" before heading out for the day. We want Addy to be grounded in the Word before heading to school, where we know she sometimes encounters some questionable things. It has also helped her remember to pray about things she is concerned about for the day. Below is a picture of the girls drawing a picture to accompany one of our morning Bible stories.

In addition to devotions, we've been working hard on learning some Bible verses. This isn't something I've ever done consistently with the girls before, but we're really enjoying it. So far, Addy knows Genesis 1:1, Romans 8:28, Psalms 23:1, 2 Corinthians 9:8 and Luke 2:11 (we're currently working on verse 10). Jayden has learned pieces of the verses and participates in the practice, but she tends to just remember phrases. She'll get there! I'm hoping to have Addy quote 3-4 verses to share with the family on Christmas Eve.
